The Mission of the Holly Village Government is to enhance our community’s quality of life. Our organization strives for quality services, responsive action to citizen requests, and a cost-effective government. We promote citizen participation, proactive decision-making, and environmental quality. Most importantly, we shall always serve the citizens of Holly.
Our vision: The Village of Holly will be a prestigious, historical village that is a green residential oasis from the City, and the center of commerce and activity for the region.
Education & Libraries
Holly boasts some of the best educational institutions in the state. The consistently A-rated Holly Area School District has two elementary schools in the Village, Patterson Elementary and Holly Elementary, and Village residents can also enroll their children at Holly Academy and the Adelphian Junior Academy.
The Holly Township Library is also located in the Village of Holly on North Saginaw Street.
Health and Wellness
The Holly Community is serviced by Ascension Genesys Hospital, just a few miles north of Holly in neighboring Grand Blanc Township. The University of Michigan Hospital System in Ann Arbor, Hurley and McLaren Medical Systems in Flint, Beaumont Health System in Royal Oak and many more health-care providers are also less than an hour’s drive of Holly.
Environment
Holly is home to the headwaters of the Shiawassee River, and boasts six inland lakes within the Village and five public parks/playgrounds. Holly Township is also home to Seven Lakes State Park, the Holdridge Lakes trails, and many square-miles of agricultural and protected natural lands.

The Village of Holly encourages residents to take active and engaged roles in their government and community. Residents of the Village who wish to serve on boards and commissions can print and submit the Citizen Participation Form to the Village Offices. Elections for public officials are handled by the Holly Township Clerk’s Office.
Holly also has numerous civic organizations and groups that are active and have a positive impact on the quality of life in the Holly Community.
History
Holly’s rich history goes back to the arrival of the first settlers in 1831. Beginning as a lumbering depot founded by Ira C. Alger, Holly has been home to many industries, including being one of the earliest railroad junctions in the State of Michigan, home to numerous manufacturing sectors (including the automobile industry), and agricultural lands. The Village of Holly was incorporated in 1865, and celebrates its sesquicentennial in 2015.

Parking
Shoppers and guests to Holly’s historical downtown and area parks enjoy free parking in lots on Maple Street, Martha Street and along Saginaw and Broad Streets.
Overnight winter parking restrictions are in effect from November 15 to April 15.
Social Services
The Oakland-Livingston Human Services Agency provides support and services for Holly’s senior residents.
Public Safety
The Village of Holly is protected by a full-time professional Police Department and a full-service and on-call Fire Department. EMS/Advanced Life Support Services are provided by the Village Fire Department. Holly is also served by the Groveland Detachment and Flint Posts of the Michigan State Police.
Transportation
Holly is located between I-75 and US-23 via Fenton, with three exits servicing travelers on I-75 (North Holly Road, Grange Hall Rd. and East Holly Road).

Utilities
The Village of Holly provides garbage and recycling services through Republic Waste Services for all Village residents. Trash pickups for the Village are on Wednesday.
Cable television services are available to Village residents by Comcast.
