Water/Sewer Information

The Village of Holly reads meters for billing on a monthly basis.  Meters are read during the last week of each month with bills being mailed out within the first week of each month.  Water bill due dates vary based upon the day of the week but, as a rule, water bills are due by the last Tuesday of each month without penalty.  After that date, there is a 10% penalty charge added to each bill.

Residential and commercial utility bills consist of capital charges and consumption charges for water and sewer.  Capital charges are a flat rate which is as follows:

CHARGE  FREQUENCY COST
Water Capital Charge Monthly $13.25
Sewer Capital Charge Monthly $23.80

Consumption charges are per one thousand gallons metered.  The consumption charges for the 2011/2012 fiscal year are:

DESCRIPTION COST
Water Consumption $8.17 per 1000 gallons
Sewer Consumption $13.62 per 1000 gallons

The following table illustrates what your monthly utility bill will run based upon the monthly consumption:

Final Utility Bills

Final water bills are calculated using the meter reading taken at the time water department staff goes to a residence or commercial building and take a reading.  The water and sewer capital charges are pro-rated based upon the number of days of the final month the customer occupies the building.  To obtain a final meter reading, contact the Village offices at 248-634-9571.  Please allow a minimum of 48 hours for scheduling.

Attention Snow Birds!

Do you leave the Village in the Winter months for a warmer climate?  To make sure you don’t miss a bill you can:

Outside (Sprinkler) Meters

The Village of Holly does allow for the installation of an outside secondary water meter for non-potable water.  This outside meter is generally for lawn sprinkling or watering purposes.  This secondary meter is not charged the monthly capital charge and is exempt from sewer consumption charges due to the water not going through the Village sewer system.  The Village does not install these meters, residents and/or businesses must utilize a licensed plumber for their installation.  A permit and inspection is required.  Contact the Village offices at 248-634-9571 for more information.
